You’ve joined a LinkedIn Group. Unfortunately, Peter Peddler has joined the same group. Since legitimate email services have already heaved his ho-ho-ho out the door, he’s joined LinkedIn because LinkedIn allows him to spam you with impunity.

It arrives over and over and over again. It’s that oh so personal message, “I’d like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn.” No explanation and no referral. Just click here, please. It’s making LinkedIn ecstatic. But, it should be making you nervous.

Before you go rushing off to buy some of that hot new LinkedIn stock from their recent IPO, think twice about who’s joining LinkedIn these days. David (pictured below) can’t even spell his own last name. Why should that scare you?
