I enjoy Derrick's blog and have it (Select Metrix) listed on my blogroll. His content is always fresh, relevant and interesting. I totally agree he is a model for "linking" and how to do it well. Looking at the great picture at the beginning of the article has me thinking, someone needs to tell his daughter to forget about covering his mouth. Grab his hands so Dad can't get at the keyboard!
